Colchester Oyster Fayre 2008

The children absolutely love this annual festival of medieval life in Colchester's Lower Castle Park (and so do I!). On Saturday the foul weather was most offputting, so we decided to leave it until Sunday. Fortunately, the weather had done a u-turn and was glorious, though the conditions underfoot were still pretty squelchy. You can read all about the Fayre here.

Here are some of the pics I took with my little pointy-clicky camera. More to follow during the week.

Your Oyster Fayre makes our village carnival seem very amateurish. We just have the Brownies and Scouts in fancy dress and a few plant and cake stalls. I can understand why the Junior Doyles were rather put out when the rain spoiled the fun on Saturday. Great pictures, I'm looking forward to seeing more.

Same here in Mid-Devon. One nearby town does have a 'Victorian' carnival, which seems to consist mostly of ladies of a certain age, wandering round while dressed up in sort of pastiche of Victorian gear ie mob caps and long floral aprons. And all wearing Deirdre Barlow specs.

Your Oyster Fayre looks much more interesting.
