Don't tell me it was the mobile phone camera again. LOVE these.

Excuse my ignorance but can you decode "TBTA" for me.

Hi Kim, no it was that happy snapper that time. TBTA = The Beach This Afternoon. TBTM = The Beach This Morning (rare for me). TBTE - The Beach This Evening. They are acronyms I filtched from a fellow Mersea blogger, Sam (aka Elizaphanian), who takes much better pics (on a REAL camera, too!) which you can see here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/elizaphanian/

I love beach huts. I used to have one at the Eastney end of Southsea beach in Hampshire but they didn't look as colourful as yours.

My goodness, your photo of the beach huts is almost exactly like the cover of the latest Essex Life (in which I have an antiques column.)

Hi Margaret - Oh, are they Mersea huts on the magazine cover? I'll have to take a look. Beach huts are certainly very photogenic and there are a great many of them around these parts!

Margaret - I now have a copy of the July Essex Life (don't usually buy it, I have to admit) and you're right, they are the self-same beach huts, although those on the EL cover have been Photoshopped almost beyond recognition. They are actually painted in pastel shades and are quite pretty, now that we've got used to them. They are a relatively new, prefabricated, addition to the existing ranks of mismatched vintage huts. They're gorgeous inside, though, and I dream of having one for use as an alternative office! If one could be rigged up with wi-fi it would be a perfect setting from which to Muse . . .
